Welcome

‘You have planted them, they have taken root, watch them grow and bear fruit.’ Jeremiah 12:2

The children, parents and staff at St James' Junior School are amazing and all strive to ensure our school is a fantastic place full of opportunities. We nurture independent lifelong learners by developing children’s natural curiosity and creativity believing it’s important to make every day of a child’s education a special and memorable one. The children are at the heart of every decision we make and we do our utmost to ensure that they are happy and confident and that the opportunities that are provided for them are relevant to their needs both now and in the future. As a result, every day at St James' is unique and leads our pupils to achieving truly remarkable things.

We celebrate our diversity and are proud of our many cultures whilst growing together as one big family under the guidance of God’s love. As a church school, we firmly believe in the Christian values that underpin everything we do to ensure that Every Child has Every Chance, Every Day.

Our School rejoices in its foundation as a Church of England school. The Christian ethos is both implicit and explicit in our practice, policies and procedures. Our Christian distinctiveness is evident everywhere; from the Bible verses displayed throughout the school, and the reflection areas, to the children’s exemplary behaviour.  Our vision 'Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day' was created around Proverbs 22:6 'Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.' which encourages children to develop teamwork, resilience, determination and enthusiasm, all under the guidance of God. Our school values are based on the teachings of the Bible and are theological and inclusive. They permeate the children’s whole experience and are at the heart of our curriculum and school life in order for them to thrive in the wider world. To find out more about what it means to be a church school, click here.

We believe that the relationships we develop with our children and their families enables us to create a warm and welcoming ethos which is so evident throughout our school. We encourage our children to GROW through our core values; Grateful, Respectful, Outstanding and Welcoming.

Do spend a few moments browsing our school website to see more about us and how we create a purposeful and stimulating learning environment. If you are new to the area, you are most welcome to contact the school to arrange a visit.  For our existing families we hope the website gives you another means of sharing and celebrating what we do.

You are very welcome to visit and see for yourself.

Life as a student at St. James' (C of E) Junior School.

As a student who has been at St. James' (C of E) Junior School for two years, this has been a wonderful experience and I would recommend this school to anyone who is wanting to have this amazing opportunity.

The resources we are provided with are helpful and the staff are friendly - they help us engage with our learning. The subjects that are taught are always fun and they can sometimes be a bit tricky but our teachers help us.

My favourite subjects are English, Science and Religious Education because they are interesting, fun and can help you in everyday life. The curriculum is well organised which makes it easier for pupils to know which lessons are going to be taught.

Our school deals with behaviour well and in a fair way. The students in this school are polite and kind to each other.

Personally, in my opinion, I love everything about this school!

I like going to St. James' Junior School because the staff are friendly and kind and we have fun whilst we are learning. I feel safe at school and trust all of the teachers and staff. I like how the school uses rewards to celebrate good behaviour. I feel welcome in school and the staff are approachable and make me feel safe. I enjoy Collective Worships and I love breakfast club. The school dinners are amazing too!

I want to thank all of the staff for always doing their best.

Being a pupil at St. James' Junior School is very enjoyable because all the teachers and other staff are really nice. They will not just talk to you or teach you, but they will laugh and enjoy being with you too. One thing I love about St. James' Junior School is how diverse it is. There are lots of children from different backgrounds and that is very intriguing. School also teaches us not to judge people by their skin colour or religion and that is something I will take with me for life. St. James' Junior School never gets boring because we have fun days and events, such as Inspiration Week when we learn about all the possibilities in life.

Another thing I have learnt at St. James' Junior School is that we should be charitable in life because giving is a good value and helps others. We should be grateful for our education, our food and families and we should be respectful to others.

Being at St. James' Junior School is great because you are always encouraged to try your best.
